Who’s coming

Thirty-six of us, across aerospace, supply chain, energy, defence, manufacturing, finance and the public sector, with graduation years spanning more than two decades.

A friendly reminder: Bottled water is provided. Beyond that, bring your own if you’d like something stronger.

Getting there

  1. Dhoby Ghaut MRT

The nearest station. Take Exit A, or Exits E and F. About ten minutes to the venue from here, almost all of it sheltered.

  2. Walk to The Cathay

2 Handy Road, a short walk from the station.

  3. Take the lift inside to Level 6

The lifts are inside the building. Go up to Level 6 and exit there.

  4. Cross the road to Sophia Hills

The clubhouse is directly opposite. We will be on the 2nd floor from 6:15pm.

Driving. Park at The Cathay Car Park (enter via Handy Road — height limit 1.9m) and walk across as above. Please don’t drive into Sophia Hills itself — visitor vehicles have to be registered with the management in advance.
Grab or taxi. Ask to be dropped at the Clubhouse, Sophia Hills, 29 Mount Sophia, Singapore 228479.
The hundred steps. There is a shortcut up the steps from Handy Road, but it is a proper climb. The lift route above is flatter, more sheltered and takes about the same time.

On the night

Doors open at 6:15pm and we have the room until 9pm. There are no speeches and no programme — the whole evening is simply for talking. Come when you can, leave when you need to.

For most of us, this will be the first time we meet each other in 2026 — and for many, the first time we meet at all. Introduce yourself to whoever is next to you — everyone is in the same boat, and the room is small enough that you will have spoken to most people by the end of the night.

Find your industry. With 36 of us across aerospace, supply chain, energy, defence, manufacturing, finance and the public sector, there is a good chance someone in the room works in yours — or right next to it. Ask around; introductions are what evenings like this are for.
Meet the committee. Jarvis, Cletus and Paul will be there all evening. Tell us what kind of gatherings you would like, offer to host or speak at one, or simply say hello — this community is what we make it together.
Bring your own drinks. Bottled water is provided. Beyond that, bring your own if you’d like something stronger — we have no budget at all, and would rather be honest about that than pretend otherwise. We are three volunteers, starting from nothing.

If your organisation would be willing to host a future session or provide light refreshments for one, come and find Jarvis on the night. It would make a real difference to what we can do next year.

What you asked for

Before planning anything, we surveyed Cranfield alumni in Singapore. Twenty-two of you answered, and the answers shaped everything on this page.

What you told us

What would make this community worth your time?

Meeting alumni in my own industry13 of 22
Staying connected to Cranfield itself13 of 22
Meeting alumni outside my industry11 of 22
Talks and discussions on industry topics10 of 22
Career conversations8 of 22
Purely social — drinks, dinners, family-friendly7 of 22

Which format works best?

A mix of in-person and online9 of 22
In person only7 of 22
Online only3 of 22
Depends entirely on the topic3 of 22

How often would you come?

Once a quarter9 of 22
Twice a year8 of 22
Monthly3 of 22
Only for topics I really care about2 of 22
And you offered to help. Ten of you offered to speak at or join a panel, seven to make introductions within your industry, and several more to host a gathering. We will take you up on it.

Two things came back clearly. People wanted to meet other alumni in their own industry and to feel connected to Cranfield again — far more than they wanted talks or panels. And they wanted something every few months rather than every few weeks.

So this evening has no speakers and no programme, by design. It is simply all of us in a room.
